Best splash pads in Kanata!

A couple months ago I wrote a blog post about the best places to take your kiddos in the winter in Ottawa, so I figured with summer finally here, now would be the best time to talk about the best splash pads in the Kanata area. I don’t know about you but splash pads in Kanata have been a staple of my kids’ summer since they could sit up. When my oldest was 8 months old we would put her down next to the splash pad and she would crawl around splashing everyone and squealing. We have been hitting up multiple splash pads, all over Ottawa, weekly ever since!

Here is a list of my favourite splash pads in the west end area in Ottawa, and please feel free to add any I have missed! I would love to check out some new ones this summer. I also wanted to post some photos of an awesome family session I did at the Bluegrass splash pad in Ottawa and Eva James skate park in Ottawa. The mom approached me telling me she was looking for a Ottawa Family photographer to create a session a bit different and wanted to get photos of her kids doing what they love best; playing. It was such a fun, relaxing family photography session and I am in love with the photos.

Here is my list:

1 Kanata Recreation Complex: https://ottawa.ca/en/residents/facilities/kanata-recreation-complex

This is a favourite of mine for multiple reasons. Most importantly for me and for any parent of a toilet trained kid is clean bathrooms! There is nothing worse than getting to a park after taking forever to pack up and get there just to have to go home because your child has to pee, so having a bathroom is important for me. They also have great shade, a really awesome park beside the splash pad, and picnic tables for lunch!

2 Kristina Kiss Park: 100 Akerson Rd, Kanata, ON K2M 0B4

This park is somewhat newer and has an awesome play structure right beside the splash pad. There is also no sand which is a plus with a splash pad as it isn’t as messy! The only downside to this park is no bathroom (besides a porta-potty) and there isn’t a lot of shade. They do have a nice gazebo with a table though for lunch and to get a break from the sun.

3 Bluegrass Park: 199 Bridgestone, Ottawa, Ontario in Kanata

We probably go to this one most often because of how close it is to our house. It also has a table with some shade and a play structure right beside the splash pad. This one has a sand park which my kids love as they love the mess. They don’t have a bathroom on site but there is a community centre behind the park that has washrooms.

4 Leslie Park: Dayton Cres

This one is the prettiest of them all. It’s surrounded by trees, a big hill and beautiful gardens. It’s usually quiet as well, and has plenty of shade. The only downside is that they just a single porta-potty which I have never had the pleasure of using so can not speak to its cleanliness.

5 Millennium park: 2010 Trim Road

This one is not west end but is the biggest of them all and probably best for families with a wide range of kiddos as there is something for everyone.

I hope you found this helpful and get to enjoy these awesome splash pads with your littles! Here is a link for a website that has all the splash pads the city has to offer so you can find one closest to you!! https://ottawasplashpads.ca
